early careers – australia Raina Singh

Lawyer, Dispute Resolution, Canberra

I have had the opportunity to work on noteworthy and meaningful engagements early on in my career at Ashurst. This has meant working with clients who are dealing with complex and thought-provoking issues that have a broad impact on their operations. Complementing this work is a supportive environment that welcomes open and honest dialogue and places an emphasis on professional development.

While challenging, the work has been particularly rewarding. In my first two rotations, I have worked on high-profile, commercially sensitive and time-pressing engagements, including complex infrastructure disputes, a multi-billion dollar defence project, and major workplace investigations. These projects have given me the opportunity to learn from lawyers who are experts in their fields. I have also been involved in inter-office projects and have had to liaise with lawyers and partners across Australia – exposing me to the legal landscape beyond my immediate home office.

Throughout these engagements, I have developed my expertise in drafting contracts, advices and court documents, as well as stakeholder management and strategic thinking. This has only been possible because of the support, mentoring and advice from my team, making me feel welcomed and valued.
