Being a graduate at Ashurst has been a challenging yet very rewarding experience, both from a career and personal perspective. I have gained invaluable experience and knowledge from working across three different practice groups, which has given me great insights into developing my legal career.

From a career perspective, being a part of a global law firm like Ashurst means you get to work on market-leading matters with high-profile clients. On numerous occasions, while scrolling through the weekend papers, I have spotted an article addressing a matter I have worked on – this is definitely a cool feeling!  A particular highlight from my rotation in the energy and resources team was working on an international arbitration being conducted in Seoul, South Korea. This matter required the use of Ashurst's international network to liaise with partners and clients overseas to draft briefs to counsel, undertake novel legal research and interview expert and lay witnesses.

From a personal perspective, I have developed some great relationships with people and have been involved in a range of social functions, sporting events and charity work. Ashurst's "open-door" culture truly fosters an environment where partners care about their people – what you do and what you want to achieve. Partners or senior lawyers are more than happy to grab a coffee and talk you through your career development or even explain a complex legal concept. Their experience and expertise has taught me so much already.
