Business Development Marcomms

With over 100 people globally, we have business development and marcomms teams in each of our offices. Our Business Development team work closely with partners and lawyers to drive new business development opportunities. We are closely involved in driving revenue through existing client relationships, and supporting the identification of and building new relationships. The Marketing Communication teams ensure we protect and grow the reputation of the firm externally while driving effective and engaging internal communications on all aspects of the firm.


The Operations team plays a major part in running our firm – and has a presence at every Ashurst location. Its projects are varied, ranging from postal and courier services, to HS&E, records management and searches, business continuity, landlord liaison, and the management of office moves, space planning and refurbishments. The team is also involved in the contract management of reception, catering, switchboard and helpdesk, travel, M&E, cleaning, security and reprographics


Our Expertise function is responsible for ensuring the firm's technical legal excellence and driving efficiency through innovative knowledge management solutions. Specialist Expertise lawyers in our key practice areas work closely with our lawyers to keep the firm and our clients at the cutting edge of legal and market developments. A dedicated Legal Learning & Development team implements and supports the firm's legal training programmes for internal and client training. A central group of knowledge management specialists ensures that our systems can deliver what our lawyers need.

Financial Management

As a complex global organisation, financial management is key in how we run our operations, plan for the future and determine our strategy. This is a global function of 170 professionals, all working closely together, but with a range of specialist expertise, including: reporting, financial systems, costs, partnership tax, accounts payable, billing, cashiers, central registry, credit control, e-billing and client rates, financial systems support, procurement, revenue management, and working capital management.

Human Resources

Managed regionally across EMEA/US, and AsiaPac, our HR function is centred in London, Glasgow, Sydney and Brisbane – though many other offices have an HR presence too. Alongside regional advisory and operational HR teams, we have globally-operated Centres of Excellence in Learning and Development, Diversity, Partner HR, Graduates, Resourcing, and Work Allocation. Whichever team you join, you’ll work closely to deliver a seamless, worldwide HR service.


As a technology professional, you will be critical to the everyday running of our firm as well as future new developments. Now 170 strong, our IT and Security function works closely with all business areas to deliver innovative digital services to support the firm and our clients. Our services is supported from 3 key global hubs, Glasgow, London and Sydney with a limited presence in a handful of other countries. Our remit covers digital change, transformation and delivery. Our core service areas are Information Security, Service Delivery, Applications, Operations, Architecture, Change, Training, Software Development, Testing and Programme and Project Management. We are responsible for overseeing the implementation of systems on a global scale and operate as one global team.

Risk and Compliance

The need not only to safeguard our clients, but to meet ever changing regulatory requirements, means that our Risk & Compliance function has grown rapidly. With over 60 staff based in London, Glasgow, Singapore and across Australia, our specialists are responsible for assessing compliance and risk issues, particularly in regard to accepting new clients. The team plays and increasingly important commercial and strategic role for the firm, alongside it’s key function of monitoring our statutory and regulatory obligations around the world.

Secretarial Services

Every fee earner at Ashurst has the privilege of working with dedicated Practice Executives, Team Executives and Team Assistants to support their practice. Our Practice Executives ensure our Partners receive excellent high-level support, which also includes direct client contact whenever and wherever it’s needed. The rest of our fee-earning population are serviced by both Team Executives and Team Assistants, as well as other support teams, such as Document Production. Although the set up in each team can vary slightly, according to practice needs, our structure means we recruit from entry-level roles, such as our Team Assistant role through to experienced specialist Practice Executives and Team Leaders. There is opportunity for everyone here.
