Operations 

The Operations team plays a major part in running our firm and has a presence at every Ashurst location. Its projects are varied, ranging from control and management of postal and courier services, HS&E, records management and searches, business continuity, and landlord liaison, to the management of office moves, space planning and refurbishments. The team is also involved in the provision and contract management of reception, catering, switchboard and helpdesk, travel, M&E, cleaning, security and reprographics.

Legal Operations

As the nature of traditional secretarial services has changed in response to technological advances, Ashurst has responded in kind by remodeling the provision of legal operations support. Every fee earner at Ashurst has the privilege of working with dedicated Practice Executives, Team Executives, and Team Assistants to support their practice. Our Practice Executives ensure our Partners receive excellent direct high-level support and assistance in ongoing practice management. The administrative needs of our fee-earning population are met by central service Hubs, composed of Team Executives and Team Assistants, as well as other specialist support teams, such as Document Production. Although the set-up in each location can vary slightly, according to needs, our general structure means we recruit for entry-level administrative support roles through to experienced specialist Practice Executives and Team Leaders.

Risk & Compliance

The Risk & Compliance team is responsible for ensuring that Ashurst can continue to provide legal advice to our clients while at the same time adhering to the legal and regulatory requirements we are subject to. The team is split across the UK and Australia and provides global coverage. The specialists within the Risk & Compliance team assess all new clients and matters for any compliance and risk issues. In addition, the Risk & Compliance team is also responsible for the data the firm holds about its people and our clients and reviews all contracts that clients wish to impose on the firm.

In order to achieve this, the Risk & Compliance team is closely aligned to the firm's strategy, works daily with all other departments in the firm and stays up to date with all legal, regulatory and industry developments relevant to the services we provide at Ashurst.

IT

As a technology professional, you will be essential to the everyday running of our firm and ensuring that the necessary tools and technologies function effectively to enable delivery for the firm's clients. Additionally you will play a role in implementing new capabilities and supporting the firm's NewLaw innovations. At approximately 200 professionals, our IT and Security function works closely with all business areas to deliver innovative digital services with one of the primary aims to be able to service our clients from any location. The IT teams are concentrated in four core locations, Glasgow, London, Brisbane and Sydney – these are complemented by smaller service teams across most of our other countries. Our remit covers digital change, transformation and delivery and our core service areas are Information Security, Service Delivery, Applications, Operations, Architecture, Software Development, Testing and Programme and Project Management. We are responsible for overseeing the implementation of systems on a global scale and operate as one global team.

Ashurst Service Central

An experienced team of problem solvers and service professionals are designing a "one stop shop" for essential services across the employee and client lifecycles. Whether you're a new starter with Ashurst or a new client, you expect a high quality onboarding experience no matter which of our global offices you encounter first. As at April 2020, ASC has a team over 100 service professionals operating primarily out of Brisbane and Glasgow responsible for delivering a joined-up user experience across a number of essential services. Some experience in professional services is preferred but we are always on the look out for gifted communicators, problem solvers and change agents; people who can make it easier than ever to do business with Ashurst.

Human Resources

Managed regionally across EMEA/US, and AsiaPac, our HR function is centred in London, Glasgow, Sydney and Brisbane – though many other offices have an HR presence too. Alongside regional advisory and operational HR teams, we have globally-operated Centres of Excellence in Learning and Development, Diversity, Partner HR, Graduates, Resourcing, and Work Allocation. Whichever team you join, you’ll work closely to deliver a seamless, worldwide HR service.

Financial Management

As a complex global organisation, financial management is key in how we run our operations, plan for the future and determine our strategy. This is a global function of professionals, all working closely together, but with a range of specialist expertise, including: reporting, financial systems, costs, partnership tax, accounts payable, billing, cashiers, central registry, credit control, e-billing and client rates, financial systems support, procurement, revenue management, and working capital management.

Expertise

Our Expertise team plays a key role in supporting our practice groups to deliver services to the highest level of quality and technical legal excellence, ensuring that the collective knowledge and experience of the firm is captured and re-used effectively. Expertise Lawyers are deployed in many of our practice areas, their role to work closely with our lawyers to standardise our delivery, to capture and organise what we know, and to keep our lawyers at the forefront of legal and regulatory change. Supported by Expertise Executives, Assistants and Paralegals, and in collaboration with our Business Development, Knowledge, Research & Business Intelligence, and Learning & Organisational Development teams, Expertise plays a key role supporting and adding-value to our client relationships, scanning the horizon for important developments, producing training, timely legal updates and thought leadership that are focused around our clients and the industries in which they operate.

Business Development, Marketing & Communications

Ashurst's Global Business Development, Marketing & Communications (BDM&C) team is located in major cities across EMEA, Asia Pacific and the US. The team executes the firm's clients and markets strategy and supports the partnership by providing capability across the full spectrum of business development, marketing & communications activities.

We are a diverse, multi-cultural team with professional backgrounds spanning a range of business to business, professional services and hands-on industry expertise.
