Refugees face a variety of barriers to employment, such as language barriers and cultural differences. We are committed to working in partnership with non-profit organisations to help refugees find meaningful employment and we run a number of programmes globally, such as our partnership with Breaking Barriers in the UK.
Partnership with Breaking Barriers
We are proud to partner with Breaking Barriers, a non-profit organisation empowering people of refugee background living in London, Manchester and Birmingham to acquire the knowledge, confidence and experience they need to secure stable and fulfilling employment.
Ashurst volunteers play a vital role in the scope and delivery of Breaking Barriers’ work by boosting and complementing employment support services, including employment advice and guidance, skills sessions and workshops, language and interpreting assistance and sector-specific support. We were delighted to receive the below feedback from a client following an interview skills workshop:
"The workshop was extremely useful and insightful as it helped me understand how to make a great impression in an interview. The mock interview I did with volunteers from Ashurst developed my interview skills and boosted my confidence."
We are also a member of Breaking Barriers's Fuse network, a coalition of businesses committed to achieving more for refugees through employment in the UK.
