Multiculturalism
Embracing and celebrating our rich cultural diversity.
Multiculturalism
As a global firm with 28 offices spanning across the world, we recognise the importance of celebrating the diverse backgrounds, faiths and cultures that make us unique and make up our workforce, so that all partners and employees feel a genuine sense of belonging.
We celebrate multicultural days of significance such as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, Lunar New Year and Eid. Our main objectives are to: promote awareness and understanding of ethnicity, faith and culture at the firm; assist in the recruitment, development and retention of high quality socially, ethnically and culturally diverse candidates and staff; and develop connections internally and externally with local communities and clients.
For the first time, we will be introducing representation targets for Early Careers, legal and business services staff and partners and leaders in the UK."
These targets comprise of:

These representation targets will measure ethnically diverse representation with a separate measure for Black representation. This is due to the marked lack of representation of Black individuals in professional services organisations such as Ashurst.
We do not have enough meaningful data at the moment to replicate ethnicity targets in other regions, or to set targets for all our diversity strands but this will be a key focus over the next two years.

Global Anti-Racism Hub
As part of our commitment to being anti-racist the firm has established a Global Anti-Racism Hub which is an educational space featuring a range of recommendations from Ashurst colleagues, to better understand both the historical and present implications of racism across the globe.
