Michael Speaker is a counsel in the finance department in Washington DC. His practice
covers securitization, structured finance and commercial
lending. Michael represents issuers and underwriters in
collateralized loan transactions and other asset-backed securities
transactions. He also represents investment banks, finance
companies and others in connection with secured and unsecured
lending and credit derivative transactions.
Prior to joining Ashurst, Michael was the Deputy Chief Counsel of
the US Treasury Department's Office of Financial Stability.
In that position, he represented the US government in a variety of
transactions, including the rescue of the American International
Group (AIG), the automobile securitization program for Chrysler
Financial and the investment of US funds in over 700 banking
Michael is admitted to the Bar of the District of Columbia and of
the State of Maryland.
