Tony Ryan is a partner in the restructuring and insolvency group
in Sydney.
Tony is named a leading individual by Chambers Global 2010,
IFLR1000 2010, PLC Which Lawyer? Yearbook, 2010 and Euromoney's
Expert Guide to Insolvency & Restructuring Lawyers,
2009. Tony is described as an "astute lawyer with strong
technical skills" and particular experience in insurance and
cross-border transactions - Chambers Global 2008.
Tony deals with all aspects of corporate insolvency and
restructuring law, including voluntary administration, deeds of
company arrangement, schemes of arrangement, receivership and
liquidations. He advises insolvency practitioners, banks and
financial institutions and corporate clients.
Tony has extensive experience in banking, securities and
insolvency-related litigation, and regularly appears as an advocate
in insolvency-related matters. He is also experienced in
insurance and cross-border insolvencies.
His recent work includes acting in relation to the appointment of
provisional liquidators, and subsequently liquidators, to HIH
Insurance Limited and its Australian subsidiaries, and advising the
provisional liquidators and liquidators. He has also acted in
relation to the cross-border issues arising from the insolvency of
the HIH Insurance group.
He is a member of the adjunct faculty in Corporate, Securities and
Finance Law at the University of Sydney Law School, where he has
lectured on schemes of arrangement, receivership and cross-border
insolvency and corporate rescue.
